If your landline phone is not working, you may be unable to make or receive calls, hear no dial tone, or experience poor call quality, such as crackling or static noise.
Symptoms may include:
- No dial tone when picking up the phone
- Unable to make outgoing calls
- Uncoming calls are not ringing
- Crackling or static noise during calls
- Calls disconnecting unexpectdly
Follow these steps to check your Landline:
- Check phone cables
Ensure the phone cable is securely plugged into the wall socket and the phone - Restart your Fibre box if using Fibre
Turn the power off via the plug socket and leave it off for 30 seconds. After 15 minutes, the Fibre will restore. - Test another telephone handset
Plug in a different phone to check if the handset fault (Can also test your handset on a line you know is working) - Check for service outages
Remove devices such as fax machines or extension phones to test the main phone line.
Before contacting support, check the following:
- Do you hear a dial tone when lifting the handset?
- Are other phones in your home working?
- Is your Fibre box showing power?
