Building Guernsey's future-ready mobile network

We're investing in Guernsey's mobile network to make everyday connections easier and more dependable. This work includes introducing 5G alongside our existing technologies, improving coverage and capacity across the island, and creating a platform that can support the latest digital services.

Preparing for the new network

As part of this major infrastructure project, engineers are carrying out planned works across the island to lay the foundation for the upgraded network. This includes:

Replacing old masts and infrastructure with new technology
Installing equipment to introduce 5G alongside existing mobile technologies
Improving coverage and capacity across the island

When complete, the upgraded network will make everyday connections smoother and more reliable, supporting modern usage and growing digital demand.

3G network switch-off – what you need to know

As part of the network upgrade, from August onwards 3G will be switched off. For most customers, your service will continue as normal. The majority of phones and devices already support 4G, so calls, texts and mobile data will keep working.

Some customers may need to update their device settings or upgrade their device to stay connected to the internet.

What to expect

Most of the work happens quietly in the background. In areas where upgrades are underway, there may be temporary reductions in coverage or service. We'll keep this page updated with the latest locations and progress so you can check any changes in your area.
