What does Sure provide?
New Sure mail accounts are no longer available, although Sure will continue to provide help and support to existing suremail.gg users. This also applies to our previous cwgsy.net email accounts.
Support limitations on Sure email.
We always can assist on our webmail platform, webmail.sure.com. We are unable to assist with issues related to email clients (such as Outlook, Mac Mail, Gmail, etc.) or mobile devices and tablets.
Sure won’t send you emails about your account that include links to click and won’t ask for passwords via email, except when accessing your online bills.
From time to time you may receive a service message but this will be verified on our website and will also be posted on social media at the same time to show that it’s genuinely from Sure.
What can I do to solve any email problems I have?
Email not working?
✓ Check you’re able to browse the internet and you have a working internet connection.
✓ Check by logging into your email account via the website or webmail.sure.com to establish if it’s a problem with the account or set up with your third-party software/device.
Suremail settings for email software
You can set up various devices and clients (email software such as Outlook, Thunderbird, Mac Mail etc) to work with your Suremail account but you'll need some of the following settings.
Choose either a POP3 or IMAP server as shown below. The main difference is that POP3 will usually delete a message from the server once downloaded, freeing up storage space, but IMAP will usually leave it in place so that you can access your email from a different device or location, but requires more storage space. Many modern programs automatically choose some of the settings for you, such as port numbers. If any fields are already populated, please double check them, and don't worry if you're not asked for everything. You may need to check 'advanced settings' depending on the software you're using.
Suremail settings with secure SSL encryption
We strongly recommend using SSL encryption, which adds enhanced security* to your email account. Use the following settings for a secure connection:
Incoming Mail Server = secure.emailsrvr.com
Incoming Port (POP 3) = 995
Incoming Port (IMAP) = 993
Outgoing Mail Server = secure.emailsrvr.com
Outgoing Port (SMTP) = 465
Encryption/Security = yes: SSL
Authentication = Auto, Password or ‘same as incoming server’
User/Login Name = **yourname@suremail.gg (use your own email address)
* SSL offers enhanced email security by encrypting information between your device and our server. It does not guarantee security to or from a recipient/sender as they may not be using secure settings themselves. Email shouldn't be considered an entirely secure method of communication and sending personal or sensitive information via email is not advised.
**also applies to email addresses that end in @cwgsy.net
Keeping your email address if you leave Sure
Your email account is provided free, as long as you have either a Sure Broadband or Sure Pay Monthly mobile service. Customers who do not have their email account linked to a Sure Broadband or Mobile account will in future be charged to continue using a Sure email service. Customers will be notified of the charges at least 30 days in advance of charges starting.
If payment is not received when it is due, the email account will be deleted after 90 days.
For more details please see Section 5 of ‘Sure Email Terms and Conditions’, which can be found in the Internet & Web Services section of https://web.sure.com/guernsey/terms-and-conditions.
Is 'cwgsy.net' email still available?
We no longer issue new '@cwgsy.net' e-mail addresses. This has been replaced with a new domain - '@suremail.gg' However you may continue to use your existing '@cwgsy.net' e-mail address on the upgraded service. Existing '@cwgsy.net' email users may be required to make minor configuration amendments within their e-mail client settings to access email on the new service.
