Mobile data is used when your mobile connects to the internet and you are not using a WiFi service at home, work or other public places e.g. when receiving an email, using Facebook or making a Skype call when you are not on WiFi.
If you use all of your monthly data allowance from your plan, any additional data used on the Sure network is chargeable.
Data used when connected to WiFi is free.
Using inclusive data
Sure pay monthly mobile plans include a pre-determined amount of data, your plan name tells you how much you have i.e. Smart 10GB.
- Included data can only be used when you are connected to the Sure network in Jersey, Guernsey and Isle of Man.
- Included data is charged in 1MB increments. The best way to keep an eye on your allowance is to dial *#100# from time to time to see how much you have left.
- We will try to help by sending usage texts but these are not guaranteed and may be delayed.
When you reach 80% of your monthly allowance we will attempt to send you your first text. The text will say that when you that when you have used all of you monthly allowance, you will be charged per MB at our standard rates, unless you are connected to WiFi which is free.
We will attempt to send you another text when you reach 100% to inform you that any data use from now on will be chargeable unless you are connected to WiFi.
We don’t want you to receive an unexpected high bill at the end of the month so, to protect you from this, we will stop your data and cap your spend when you reach £20. We’ll try and let you know when you get to £10 but you don’t need to worry about missing any of the texts as you won’t be allowed to keep spending unknowingly with Sure.
What is a MB?
Here is the technical bit for the geeks out there!
Data is measured by content, not time so depending on what you are doing, the charges can be very different from person to person.
1024KB equals 1MB.
1024MB equals 1GB.
This is a quick guide to be used as an indication only, to help you better understand how much you use each time you access data:
